ICOM Monday mit / with Wencke Maderbacher & Nofa Lestari, ICOM CECA
Beim nächsten ICOM Monday freuen wir uns darauf, das International Committee for Education and Cultural Action (CECA) näher kennenzulernen. CECA zählt zu den ältesten Komitees von ICOM und ist mit mehr als 4.500 Mitgliedern aus rund 85 Ländern zugleich eines der größten innerhalb des Weltverbands. CECA Chair Wencke Maderbacher und Nofa Lestari, CECA Board Member, werden Einblicke in die Arbeit des Komitees geben, aktuelle Arbeitsschwerpunkte und die bevorstehende Jahrestagung in Jakarta vorstellen, bei der ICOM Deutschland Partner ist. Paul Spies, Präsident von ICOM Deutschland, wird die Veranstaltung moderieren.
Wencke Maderbacher ist Kulturmanagerin aus Wien und leitet seit 2018 in Moesgaard bei Aarhus die Vermittlungsabteilung. Zuvor war sie 15 Jahre lang am Technischen Museum Wien in der Kulturvermittlung tätig. Bei ICOM CECA ist sie seit 2025 Chair für über 4.500 KulturvermittlerInnen weltweit und leitet seit 2020 CECA‘s internationale Special Interest Group for Professional Development of Museum Educators. Ihr Arbeitsschwerpunkt in der Kulturvermittlung kreist um Organisation und Umsetzung zu Audience Engagement Strategien. Ziel ist dabei, die besten Rahmenbedingungen zu schaffen, um die Interessen von Publikum, Team und Institution perfekt miteinander zu verbinden und kreatives Schaffen zu gewährleisten.
Nofa Farida Lestari ist strategische Beraterin, Kultur- und Projektleiterin aus Jakarta und leitet als Gründerin und Executive Director das Indonesia Hidden Heritage Creative Hub (IHHCH) sowie Musee ID. Zuvor war sie in verschiedenen nationalen Projekten tätig, unter anderem bei der strategischen Konzeptionierung für das geplante Bappenas-Museum. Sie leitet das zukunftsweisende Projekt Museum for Local Economic Development and Social Changes (MLEADS) und initiierte in Zusammenarbeit mit dem United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) das erste „SDGs Corner“ in Indonesien. Ihr Arbeitsschwerpunkt kreist um die aktive Zusammenarbeit mit dem Privatsektor, um durch Museen, Kulturerberäume und strategisches Storytelling nachhaltiges Community Empowerment voranzutreiben. Ziel ist dabei, visionäre und machbare Rahmenbedingungen zu schaffen, die das Potenzial von Kulturstätten systematisch nutzen, um gesellschaftlichen Wandel und lokale Wirtschaftsentwicklung perfekt miteinander zu verbinden.

At the next ICOM Monday, we look forward to getting to know the International Committee for Education and Cultural Action (CECA) more closely. CECA is one of ICOM’s oldest committees and, with over 4.500 members coming from about 85 countries, CECA is also one of its largest Committees.
CECA Chair Wencke Maderbacher and Nofa Lestari, CECA Board Member, will provide insights into the committee’s work, present its current priorities, and introduce the upcoming annual conference in Jakarta, which is being organized in partnership with ICOM Germany. Paul Spies, Chair of ICOM Germany, will moderate the event.

Wencke Maderbacher is a cultural manager from Vienna who has been in charge of the education department at Moesgaard near Aarhus since 2018. Prior to that, she worked in cultural education at the Vienna Technical Museum for 15 years. Since 2025, she has served as chair of ICOM CECA, representing over 4,500 cultural educators worldwide, and has led CECA’s international Special Interest Group for Professional Development of Museum Educators since 2020. Her work in cultural education focuses on the organization and implementation of strategies for audience engagement. The goal is to create the best possible conditions for perfectly aligning the interests of the audience, the team, and the institution, and to ensure creative work.
Nofa Farida Lestari is a strategic consultant and cultural and project director from Jakarta, serving as the Founder and Executive Director of the Indonesia Hidden Heritage Creative Hub (IHHCH) and Musee ID. Previously, she was involved in various national strategic initiatives, including the conception and research for the planned Bappenas Museum. She leads the pioneering project Museum for Local Economic Development and Social Changes (MLEADS) and, in collaboration with the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), initiated the first SDGs Corner in Indonesia. Her work focuses on actively partnering with the private sector to drive community empowerment through the strategic utilization of museums, heritage spaces, and impactful narratives. The goal is to create forward-thinking yet feasible frameworks that systematically leverage cultural assets to seamlessly connect social change with local economic development.
The event will take place on July 6, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (CEST) via Zoom in English. Please register in advance.
We would also like to note that the event will be recorded for internal documentation purposes. There are no plans to publish the recording.

The ICOM Monday series takes place regulary and focuses on current museum issues. Alternately, we invite representatives of other ICOM National Committees to participate in a binational dialogue, give insights into the work of International Committees as well as open up space for topics and comments from the membership.
