Mara-Johanna Kölmel
Dr. Mara-Johanna Kölmel ist Kuratorin und Leiterin der Kunstabteilung am Zeppelin Museum. Ihre Arbeit untersucht Kunst im Spannungsfeld von Technologie und Gesellschaft und rückt die Umbrüche unserer Zeit in den Fokus. Besonders interessiert sie sich für partizipative und spielerische Ausstellungsformate, zuletzt als Ko-Kuratorin von Choose Your Player. Spielwelten von Würfel bis Pixel (Zeppelin Museum, 2023), die über 120.000 Besucher*innen anzog und in der ARD Tagesschau vorgestellt wurde. Zuvor war sie u.a. an der Biennale of Sydney, dem Somerset House London, dem Arko Art Center Seoul, der Kunsthalle Hamburg und der Akademie Schloss Solitude tätig. Ihr Buch Sculpture in the Augmented Sphere erscheint 2025 bei De Gruyter/Brill.
Dr. Mara-Johanna Kölmel is a curator and Head of the Art Department at the Zeppelin Museum. Her work explores art at the intersection of technology and society, focusing on the transformations shaping our time. She is particularly interested in participatory and play-based exhibition formats, most recently as co-curator of Choose Your Player. Game Worlds from Dice to Pixel (Zeppelin Museum, 2023), which attracted over 120,000 visitors and was featured on the ARD Tagesschau. Previously, she worked with institutions such as the Biennale of Sydney, Somerset House in London, the Arko Art Center in Seoul, Kunsthalle Hamburg, and Akademie Schloss Solitude. Her book Sculpture in the Augmented Sphere will be published by De Gruyter/Brill in 2025.
